Puer

Great Balls of Puer

Earthy. Rich. Luscious.

Form* seems to prevail over substance these days; these have both.

They are of the large arbor varietal, so while not specifically ancient tree, there’s normally a mix of ancient and those hovering around 70 years. This imparts a sweetness to the tea with an endurance of easily over ten infusions. Hints of cocoa for now (after a few years of aging) and certainly none of that "warehouse smell." As time passes, the aging will cause an evolution in flavors.

Given the shape and size, they must be hand pressed (as opposed to machinery) increasing the cost basis. Portability and convenience always come at a price.

*If you are stranded in a desert, without water for days, and you happen upon someone with that live-saving liquid, do you care what type of container it's offered in? Would you decline water if it were served in a cheap tin bucket and only accept if it were in a hand-painted ceramic cup? That which is held within is ultimately more important.
