2006 Big Green Tree (Yiwu) - Special Grade
2006 Big Green Tree (Yiwu) - Special Grade
A personal favorite aged 14 years (dry storage) from the lush mountains of Yiwu. This is the 特极品 grade (special grade) denoting superior quality. Huge aging potential.
Flavor notes: very sweet and grassy (sweetness attributed to the large leaves and stems from Yiwu mountain), pleasant green/vegetal quality, a fleeting light bitterness
Hue: reminiscent of a 12yr Calvados, under the light appears a dark tangerine
Mouthfeel: surprising level of smoothness for a newer tea, also surprisingly little to no astringency, velvety richness that comfortably coats the inside of the mouth
Endurance: an afternoon, often will lose count
Qi: medium, will mellow with age
Hui Gan/lingering aftertaste: sweet and lightly cooling
Misc: this batch has aged very speedily and well without entering a "wet HK warehouse"... one to hold onto, suspect it will be superstellar in another ten years
